Following groups or pages on Facebook can be a great way to stay in the know about things you are interested in.
However, following too many groups or pages can create an information overload. You may even find that you start avoiding Facebook because of how many updates you receive.
One way to reduce the amount of updates you receive is to unfollow groups. This is a quick and easy way to cut down on distraction.
Unfollowing a group is easy to do, and this article will show you how to do it! You can either skip this step entirely or do it at any time. It is totally up to you whether or him you use this feature or not.
Interestingly, there is no official way to delete a Facebook group, so the only way to completely remove yourself from a group is to delete your account.
Click on the group name
Next, you have to go to the group page. You can do this by searching for the group name or clicking on the group name under your friends list.
Once there, you will see a list of members in the group along with a few buttons and an about section. The about section usually has links to the group’s page on Facebook as well as its website if it has one.
Some groups do not have an about section or a website so look out for those when you are trying to unfollow the group.
The first button is to open an invitation to the group which you probably received when you joined so make sure to delete that one if you received it again. The second button is for making comments and the last two are to leave or suspend membership in the group.
Click on those two buttons to confirm your decision.
Click on “View Group”
The next step is to click on the group name under “Group” and then click on the “View Group” button. This will take you to the group’s Facebook page, which only shows information related to the group.
If you are already a member of this group, you will see all of the posts that you would normally see in your feed. If you are not a member of this group, however, then you will only be able to see the posts for members.
This is helpful if you want to quickly and easily unfollow a group without having to go through every post and member individually. You can simply click “Follow” on the group’s page to unfollow it.
It is important to note that this does not remove you from the group, it only unfollows the page. If you want to leave the group, you have to do that on the actual page.
Click on “Leave Group”
Once in the group, you will be able to see posts created by the group administrator. Other members of the group will not be able to post to the group.
To leave the Facebook group, click on “Leave Group” icon at the top right corner of the page. A window will pop up confirming your exit. Click on “Exit Group” and you are done!
You will now be able to see all of your groups and post, like before. You can also now unfollow them if you would like.
It is easy to follow or unfollow a group on Facebook, so try it out! If you find that you are spending too much time in groups and distracting yourself, then try disabling them.
Confirm leaving the group
Once you have unfollowed a group, you will be asked to confirm that you want to leave the group. This is to make sure you do not change your mind after you have left the group.
Again, you can only leave a group if it is open to all members. If it is a closed group, you cannot leave unless you are invited by the creator. This feature helps keep the groups safe and controlled by trusted members.
If you are no longer interested in following your friend on Facebook, then simply click on the drop-down menu next to the follow button and select Unfollow [Person’s Name]. This can be done for both personal and business pages.
It is your choice whether or not to leave a group, but remember that there may be benefits to staying in the group, even if you do not agree with all of the posts.
You are now no longer part of the group
Once you have unfollowed the group, you will no longer see posts from the group in your feed. You will no longer be part of the group, so to speak.
However, if you were previously a member of the group, you will still be able to see posts that you would have been able to see as a follower. Others will still be able to see your posts as well on the group page.
The admin of the group can still add people via a invite link, so make sure you monitor your email for any invites!
It is now up to you whether or not you want to re-join the group or join another similar group. It is your choice whether or not you want to spend your time and energy on such things.
Tell us your story
Unfollowing groups and profile accounts can be a good way to get new followers. Once you have a decent following yourself, you can promote your account by connecting with new users through Facebook.
The best way to do this is by telling your story through a Facebook group. Create a group and then invite new followers to join, offering them an introduction to your page in the process.
It can take some time to gather enough people for a meaningful group, but this is an effective way to get started. By the time you have enough people in the group, you will have attracted enough new followers for it to be worth it!
If you are already at the point of needing to clean out your news feed, then we hope this article helped you find the right way to go about it.

Groups can be helpful, but they can also be harmful. If a Group is filled with positive content and people, it can be a great resource.
Many Groups are created for marketing purposes, so you can often get free tips and advice on products and services this way. If you do not use them in your everyday life, then this is a great way to contribute to the community.
If there is a Group that appears harmful or toxic, then you can delete them. To do this, go to Settings > Account Settings > Facebook Business Tools > Unfan Pages and Groups.
Here you will find a list of all the Groups you are affiliated with and you can choose to remove yourself from them. You cannot do this on personal accounts, however.
If you have trouble deciding if someone needs to leave the group, ask yourself if they contribute positively to the group or not.
Unfollow social media accounts
Following social media accounts can be addictive and obsessive. However, it can be harmful to your mental health to constantly watch account after account of people you know or don’t know, posting everything from their every day life to political opinions.
If you find yourself obsessing over other people’s lives, you should consider following less accounts or eliminating some accounts all together.
You can do this by going to your settings under account deletion and selection and choosing either one or several accounts to unfollow. You have the option to unfollow all of their posts or just posts from Facebook groups.
This way you can still stay up to date on some accounts while limiting the amount of unnecessary stress they put on you. You can also choose to only follow family and friends which will limit the amount of negative or unhealthy content you see.
