However, when we limit screen time, we can actually improve our overall happiness. Limiting screen time reduces stress and helps us disconnect from the constant stream of messages and advertisements that bombard us every day.

It also allows us to focus only on activity’s that are healthy for us mentally and physically, which promote health and wellness. Given that most kids today spend far too much time in front of screens, limiting their access is an important part of developing them.

By having limited access to your device, you will have to make conscious decisions to spend time away from it. This helps reduce screen usage down to an appropriate level.

You should take breaks every few hours to focus on other things instead of looking at your phone all day.

It could even be sleeping! — but only if you really need to get some rest before the next stage.

A few days ago, I gave you some tips for how to reduce your smartphone use, including limiting time spent on mobile apps and hands-free voice calls. While those are great start points, what really cuts down screen time is switching off the computer or device entirely!

I know it can feel impossible when you’re in front of your laptop all day, but try setting timers for each session — one for work and one for personal. If you need to take a break, turn off auto-login so you have to reenter your password to get back into your account.

And if you find that you’re constantly being distracted by notifications, you can either disable them completely or use an app like Privated which only allows you to view them as and when you want to.
