Looping songs is one of the most powerful features in music production software like Spotify, Apple Music or Google Play Music. With this feature you can create your own track by repeating parts or all of a song over and over again.
The easiest way to begin looping songs is to use an app that has built-in loops such as Beatloop (for iOS) or ReLoop (for Android). By copying and pasting a sample loop into these apps, you have already made your first loop!
Another easy way to begin creating loops is using a free online service that allows you to make loops quickly. You can find many sites with free loops at any time; there are even ones where you can make your own! Some of the best sources for royalty-free loops include Freesound, InspirationLine, and AudioJungle.
This article will go more in depth about how to start looping songs on Spotify, so keep reading! We’ll also take you through some examples of different types of loops and tips on how to improve your loops if you are new to it.
Set Spotify to repeat
In Settings, you can choose Repeat for your songs! This is very helpful if you are trying to get into music or need some motivation as you work out. Or perhaps you just like listening to the same song over and over again.
You can select either Start at zero repeats (the default) or start with one repeat and then increase it as time goes by. The best way to find this setting is through the mobile app as it has clear pictures and instructions.
For people who use headphones frequently, there is an even better option! You can set up voice activation via Siri or Google Assistant so that the song starts playing when someone says a certain word or phrase. For example, you could say “play Beyonce” and she would begin singing along!
Another cool feature that most users have not noticed is that once a song has finished, a short notification will appear telling you what artist and album track it was.
Record your playlist
So let’s say you already have some songs in your library that you like, and you want to make playlists of those songs. You can either use an external app or software to do this for you, or you can do it yourself!
There are many ways to do this on your computer. For example, you can use a free music player application such as Windows Media Player, Google Play Music, or iTunes. These apps all have similar features to stream and create new play lists.
Alternatively, there are several good softwares available that will help you quickly organize and edit your song libraries. Some of these include Splice, Rhythmbox, and Songbird. They are all fairly easy to use and add songs into existing play lists or create new ones.
And lastly, you can simply use a third-party service to manage your music collection. Sites like Ithut, Grooveshark, and Last.fm all offer creating playlists as well as sharing them with other people.
Use a music streaming service to repeat a song
There are times when you will start listening to an album and want to hear one part of it again. Or maybe you just want to listen to a specific song for fun or to get some work done. Either way, being able to loop a song is pretty cool!
You can use this feature with any music streaming app that has this feature. Some apps may even have a dedicated button or setting to easily do this.
For example, in the Netflix movie and TV show binge-watching platform, you can choose to add onto your current watch by selecting “Continue watching” under Settings. This allows you to quickly access more content without having to find the next episode or film yourself!
With most music streaming services, you can create playlists which make adding songs easier too.
Use a software audio looping plugin
Looping music is an incredible way to enjoy songs that have short segments or out-of-context sound bits. Technically, this process is called sampling.
In DJing, artists use special equipment to do this by using vinyl records as sources. What most people call samples are just extended loops of a part of a song or another piece of music.
These pieces are then mixed together into one longer track! Artists use these sampled parts in other songs, too. For example, The Black Keys’ Wayfarer is heavily inspired by AIM (the now-defunct chat app).
Sampling is used extensively in hip hop music and has become very common. But unfortunately, it can be difficult to find ways to do it on your computer.
Use a hardware audio looping device
Looping music devices are one of the most helpful tools for musicians. There are many types of loops, but all work by listening to some music or sound source and then repeating it. For example, when you listen to radio songs that have an intro and outro, this is perfect material for creating your own!
There are several different types of loops, such as drum loops, guitar loops, bass loops, and voice loops. Each type of loop can be useful in different situations depending on what kind of music you want to create new sounds or add effects to.
For instance, recording vocals is much easier done with a microphone connected to a computer using software like GarageBand or Audacity. Then, you just need a good listener and someone to help you coordinate when you’re ready to record yourself singing!
That’s why having a small speaker set up with headphones is very helpful – you can easily connect both and use the earphones as a listener. Or even better, buy a headphone amplifier so you don’t have to worry about charging how much electricity each individual component uses! (They’re expensive though, so keep an eye on discount sites to get them for less money!)
Amplifiers usually have a switch where you can choose whether the output goes straight into another piece of equipment, like a mixer, or if there is a second channel that feeds back into the input.
Combine songs into groups and use a song within a group as a loop
Looping is an incredible way to organize your music listening. It’ll keep you coming back for more! With loops, you get to listen to a short segment of a song several times before moving onto the next one.
There are two main types of loops: cutup or continuous. A cutloop is made up of three parts that repeat over and over. For example, if your current favorite song has a chorus and verse, then the chorus can be a continuous loop.
The other type of loop is what we refer to as a sequence. This is when the music quickly changes styles and/or instruments and soot goes off in another direction. Like with a melody, pieces of a sequence can also become a separate loop.
Here’s where things get fun! You can combine both types of loops together into a playlist which allows you to easily shift between different musical patterns.
Combine songs into groups and use a whole group as a loop
Looping is an interesting feature that allows you to create musical patterns or structures for your music. It can be done using either drum loops, bass lines, melody loops, or any combination of these!
Drum loops are usually one main beat with some additional beats here and there. A common way to use a drum loop is to play the main part of the loop twice then add in more details such as cymbals, snares, and kicks on top.
This method can be extended to make what’s called a groove or pattern. A common way to do this is to take two short beats of the rhythm and extend them so they feel longer. Then once all three parts have been repeated enough times, it creates a feeling of continuous forward motion or a groove.
Some people also refer to these extended rhythmic sections as a riff, verse, or chorus. It really depends on how you want to describe it! The important thing is to give the piece of music a structure and place where it feels like it needs to break off.
Create a new playlist and use the same looping song
Looping songs are a cool way to enjoy music. You can create your own loops, or you can find ones that other people have made.
In this article, we will learn how to make your own loops using an app called Spotify. We will also take some time to look at some easy ways to add loops to existing playlists.
I’ve picked out three different types of loop for you to try out. All three are very simple to use and feature-packed. I hope you enjoy experimenting with them!
Spin – This is my favorite type of loop to make. It’s like creating your own music video! Your chosen track must be longer than about two minutes long, and it should contain several sections that move smoothly from one to another.
Beat section – These get gradually faster as they go along. An easy place to start trying out spin loops is by adding short beats to a normal song.
Repetition – The final part of a spin loop is repeated over and over again until the whole thing has finished.
