Pinning a tweet allows you to save a tweet to your profile for later viewing. This is very useful if you come across a great tweet, but do not have the time to read it at the moment.
You can pin tweets from your own account or any other account. When you pin another user’s tweet, they will be notified via Direct Message on Twitter.
Pinning tweets is a great way to keep track of certain accounts and what they have to say. It is also a way to organize great tweets for future reference.
Pinning tweets is only available on the official Twitter app. Unfortunately, there is no way to pin tweets on Twitter Lite or Facebook Messenger. You can, however, create a desktop version of your account that has the ability to pin tweets.
Click “Pin to top”
To pin a tweet to the top of a user’s timeline, click the “Pin to top” button next to the Like button. This will keep the tweet at the top of their feed until it is replaced by another tweet.
This function is great if you have a Twitter account for your business and want your followers to see an important message quickly. Or if you are a business and want to promote an offer or sale, this is also effective.
Again, like with the like function, any user can pin any tweet so be aware if this functionality is used against you.
While it is easy to use these features, it can be even easier to undo them.
Select which tweet you want to pin
Once you are on the Twitter page for the tweet you want to pin, you can select which tweet you want to pin. A pinned tweet appears at the top of your profile and remains until you unpin it.
To choose a tweet, click on the tweet itself and not the author name. This takes you to the creation page of the tweet, where you can edit it before pinning it. Make sure it is a good one!
Once you click on the pin button, Twitter will ask if you want to keep this content private or make it public. If it is something worthy of being pinned, choose public! Then just confirm and ta-da! It is pinned!
You can also pin someone else’s tweet by going to their profile and clicking on the Pin Tweet button under their latest tweet.
The pinned tweet will be highlighted with a red border
Pinning a tweet will also keep the tweet at the top of your timeline. This is useful if it is a very important tweet, like an announcement or news!
So far, there is no limit to how many tweets can be pinned. However, if you pin too many tweets, people may think you have an obsessive compulsive disorder and not pay attention to your updates.
If you want to pin a tweet but are not sure if it is worthy enough, wait a few days or weeks and see how many retweets and likes it gets.
Click the three dots next to the share button
Pinning a tweet means saving it to your Twitter profile for easy access later. This is great if you see a great tweet and want to save it for later, when you have time to read it.
To pin a tweet, you have to be logged into your Twitter account. Once logged in, just click the Tweet you want to pin and then click the three dots next to the share button.
This will bring you to the screen where you can Pin it. Just click the Pin button and then confirm via the pop-up box. You’re done!
If you previously pinned a tweet and want to unpin it, go to your profile and find the pinned tweet. Click the three dots again, but this time, click Unpin from profile. Confirm your choice again in the pop-up box.
Click “Save for later”
To pin a tweet, click the three dots next to the tweet you would like to save, then click “Save for later.” This will add the tweet to your list of saved tweets, which you can view by clicking the square box with down arrows in the top right corner of the Twitter app.
Saved tweets will be ordered by date, with the most recent at the top. To pin one, just click on the pin icon in the upper right corner of the tweet. You have the option to also retweet this tweet at this time as well.
If you decide you do not want this tweet pinned, you can go to your saved tweets and click the down arrow in the top right corner. Select “Delete” and confirm to remove it from your saved tweets.
Choose whether you want to save it directly into your account or into a specific hashtag
Once you have selected the tweet you want to pin, you can choose whether you want to save it directly into your account or into a specific hashtag.
If you want to pin it to your profile, just click on the green button that says ‘Pin to Profile’. If you would like to add it to a specific hashtag, click on the green button that says ‘Add to #hashtag” and pick the one you would like to add it to.
Once you have chosen which one you want to pin it to, press the yellow ‘Pin’ button and it is saved! You can then view your pins on your profile or in your settings page.
You can also choose to unfollow them if they are not a close friend, but rather a celebrity who posts content for exposure.
Click the three dots next to the retweet button
Pinning a tweet means you can save the tweet to your profile so it stays there even after it is retweeted. This is helpful if the original tweeter does not have the feature to pin tweets, or if they do not have a Twitter account.
To pin a tweet, click the three dots next to the retweet button and then click Pin to profile. If you do not have the feature to pin tweets, you can still retweet and like the post!
You can also pin a tweet by going to the tweet and clicking the blue Pin Tweet button at the bottom of the post. This will save the tweet to your profile and remove it from its original location.
If you would like to unpin a tweet, go to your profile, then Tweets and then Profile Content. Find the pinned tweet and press undo button under it.
Select which tweet you want to pin
After logging into your Twitter account, you can pin a tweet by clicking the three dots next to the tweet you want to pin and selecting Pin Tweet. This will bring you to the pin creation screen.
Here, you can choose whether or not to include the name of the person who tweeted this message, their Twitter handle, and/or a picture that goes with the tweet. You can also choose how long you want this tweet to be pinned for- either forever or only for a limited time (up to eight hours).
If you choose to include someone’s name in the pin, it will add their profile image and link them to the tweet. This is helpful if you want to share who tweeted what so people can go read their other content.
